[Opendap] What is OPeNDAP AIS(Ancillary Information Service)?

Well, there isn't much on the AIS code I wrote and is part of libdap.  
There is a README.ais file in libdap and you can get that from trac as  
well. That is a 'client-side' AIS capable of adding attributes to a  
data set - the returned DAS that is. It should also work to add those  
to a DDX.

I essentially stopped work on that AIS code because our funding to  
continue it never materialized (until recently) and NCML seems to be  
an alternative syntax for the same sort of thing that's already got a  
following.

What are you thinking of doing with the AIS?
