[Opendap] Some announcements

First, my apologies for the double posting.

There are several newsworthy items I'd like to share with you all.

First, NASA has accepted the DAP 2 RFC as a 'Recommended Standard.'  
You can see a copy of the document at the NASA/ESE web site. Thanks  
to my co-authors on the RFC:  Nathan Potter, Tom Sgouros, Steve  
Hankin, Glenn Flierl.

Second, We (OPeNDAP) are pleased to say that NSF has funded a  
proposal for the netCDF client library software to migrate into the  
Unidata code base for netCDF. This will entail rewriting the netCDF  
client library to use the recently developed C API for DAP 2. The  
effort will last two years and will take place both at OPeNDAP and  
Unidata. Thanks to Russ Rew and all those at Unidata for helping with  
this to Steve Hankin for being a tireless supporter of the idea!
