Interest in server-side processing working group

Greetings,

As part of the PNNL team involved in the GCRM scidac project lead by
Karen Schuchardt, I am expressing my interest in forming a working group
for server-side processing.  We're interested in a number of working

Although Karen is our point of contact for a possible asynchronous
transaction working group, we're curious why server-side processing and
asynchronous transactions aren't unified.  It seems to me that for
server-side processing to work on any large dataset, some sort of
asynchronous transaction is also required.  Is this not always the case?
