There is a patch for GrADS 1.9b4 that will enable access to dapper.   
Some users in Hawaii have been testing it. At this point, there is no  
public release that can access dapper in its newest incarnation. I  
can give you a src tarball if you want it. An older version of dapper  
was compatible with GrADS 1.9, but things often break when you update  
software, both on the client and server sides.
